Q: Books are heavy. Can I actually put books on the door?
A: Yes! Each panel is guaranteed to hold 150 pounds. That would be about half full of books. The reason they can hold so much weight is threefold: First, all of our designs sit on the floor and pivot, rather than hanging from hinges or tracks. Second, we limit the width of each “panel” so not too much weight is cantilevered off the pivot point. Finally, we only use quality materials in our construction. No particle board!
Q: But doesn’t everything fall off the shelf when you open or close the door?
A: It’s quite amazing how well things stay put. Only if you really slam the door open or closed do things move.
Q: How deep are the shelves?
A: 8”. Some designs can be deeper or shallower, however, we’ve found 8” is a good working depth.
Q: How many shelves do they come with?
A: There will be fixed shelves at the bottom and center, plus 4 adjustable shelves.
Q: Can the doors be installed over carpet?
A: Yes! We can install over carpet, wood, vinyl, tile or even concrete.
Q: What if I’d like a door but don’t live in Ohio?
A: Order a hardware kit and either build it yourself or have a local carpenter build it for you.
